William Sadler opens up about ‘Alice Fades Away’ thriller

Finally a trailer of Bill’s new film ALICE FADES AWAY. This looks rather intense and I can hardly wait to see it.

William Sadler opens up about ‘Alice Fades Away’ thriller

Actor William Sadler (“Bill & Ted Face the Music”) chatted with Digital Journal’s Markos Papadatos about the film “Alice Fades Away.”

In the thriller Alice Fades Away, directed by Ryan Bliss, he plays James. “I had fun but it was very intense,” he said. “James is a powerful character and a powerful man who has lost control of something in his life that means the world to him, and that makes him an interesting character to play. He is a man that is used to getting what he wants, he is wealthy and he commands respect, and controls everything in his world.”

He praised the film’s director, Ryan Bliss. “I thought Ryan was terrific. I love directors that create a safe place for you to play in. You feel trusted. These are the directors that get the best work out of their actors. You can go as far as you feel free to go. I was blown away when I saw the final film, and how beautiful it was,” he said.

The movie also stars Blanche Baker (Sixteen Candles), Paxton Singleton (The Haunting of Hill House) and Ashley Shelton (Something, Anything). Christopher French composed the musical score. “It’s a thriller but it has gorgeous photography, and I admire that as well. The photography makes for a good film,” he said.

Alice Fades Away is available for streaming on digital platforms by clicking here. It was released on February 16 via 1091 Pictures. “If viewers like suspense, I would encourage them to see this film,” he said. “I think it’s a terrifying story that is beautifully sold. I would urge people to see it.”

For young and aspiring actors, he encouraged them to do some theater, where they have to go in front of a live audience. “You have to deliver. I did theater for 11 years before I did my first movie. It took a couple of films to make the adjustment to the camera because it’s a slightly different style of acting. In film and television, there is no rehearsal. You run the scene once or twice with the actor that you just met that morning, and then, they lay it down on film and it’s there forever,” he said.

He described the latest Bill & Ted film, Bill & Ted Face the Music, as “great fun.” “I was thrilled when they came back to me after 30 years and asked me to be in another one, and I said ‘yeah of course’ and they told me the general plot of it,” he said.

Sadler defined the word success as “when you are secure in yourself and your career, and when things are in balance.”

A Date with the Demon Knight – An Interview with Actor William Sadler

I just found this while doing a search on Youtube on Bill. Bill was interviewed Monsters, Madness and Magic. Here he discussed his early work in theatre as a young actor and his various projects on Broadway. He also discussed his most successful roles including DEMON KNIGHT, THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, THE GREEN MILE, TRESPASS, BILL & TED’S BOGUS JOURNEY, BILL AND TED FACE THE MUSIC, DIE HARD 2, and THE MIST. I love when Bill talks about his stage work and his theatre days. He’s so humble and sweet. I’m sorry I haven’t been posting much, but I’m currently working on research for the novel I’m writing. I’m currently wading hip-deep in Russian history, The Vietnam War, and spaces in between

Bill Talks “Hudson Falls”

Bill is about to star in a new series. HUDSON FALLS was shot during the COVID pandemic and Bill and the show’s writer Elias Plagianos talks about trying to film a pilot during such difficult times. Transcript can be found below the video.

The COVID-19 pandemic changed practically every facet of life. For filmmakers, it prompted a different type of creativity. A Rockland County resident was one of the first to film when New York reopened, and decided to shoot a TV pilot entirely in Rockland. He and one of the show’s actors spoke with WAMC’s Hudson Valley Bureau Chief Allison Dunne.

Indie filmmaker Elias Plagianos says he turned to just writing when society more or less shut down during the pandemic, and came up with an idea for a show he could film locally.

“Part of the inspiration was a lot of my friends had gone to Cornell University, which is in upstate New York, and they would always tell me these horror stories how people would always, out of pressure, jump off these gorges,” Plagianos says. “Cornell has a lot of different subjects, but I decided to go with science, and then I just thought a little bit more about upstate New York and what are some of the things, driving forces, and I noticed how a lot of these corporations kind of runs these small towns. So I decided to join a corporation that runs a small town and have a university involved, and wrap it all up in a murder-mystery.”

In another of Bill’s ‘hit-and-run’ cameos he plays the part of Cole Carter, an agent to the lead character of Cool (Dorian Missick), an African American actor who is tired of playing a stereotype. The rest of the film is quite good and co-stars Zoe Saldana who played the part of Gomora in James Gunn’s Marvel films Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol II where Bill starred as President Ellis in IRON MAN 3 in the same universe. Small world.

JoBlo Names Its Top 10 Streaming Christmas Movies …. One of Them is …..?

The website JoBlo has named its ten best streaming Christmas movies. And DIE HARD 2 was among them with honourable mention given to a certain nude Tai Chi lovin’ psychopathic killer we all know and love. Hint: Check this site’s subject. One of the clips they show is from the scene where John McLane (Bruce Willis) is in the cockpit of the plane Bill’s character Col. Stuart is shooting up into. Later McLane ejects the seat saving himself. I keep remembering a funny story Bill tells of filming that scene and making the sound of the machine gun, the sound mixer on the project, Tim Cooney, having to come and tell Bill he didn’t need to make the sounds. That’s what he was for.

3. Yes, Virginia, these ARE good sequels!: Die Hard 2 (1990), Bad Santa 2 (2016)

Christmas movie sequels don’t come around too often, let alone Christmas sequels that are actually good! Yet, some do exist and, for this list, I have TWO… Yes, Die Hard IS a Christmas movie, but what some may not quite comprehend is that its sequel is ALSO a Christmas movie… and surprisingly, a damn good one! You’d think John McClane fighting off terrorists a second time during Christmas would be asinine, yet somehow through Bruce Willis’s everyman charm and a wonderfully merciless main villain (played by William Sadler), the whole thing works! And… with Bad Santa 2, Billy Bob Thornton’s “Willie” picks up right where he left off, despite the thirteen-year gap between both films. All the dirty, potty-mouthed magic of the original is back with the new addition of the always-game Kathy Bates as Willie’s mama! Funny times!
Stream Die Hard 2 right now on HBO Max. Stream Bad Santa 2 right now on Amazon Prime.

Filed under Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey CHARACTERS Col. Stuart Death/The Grim Reaper Die Hard 2 FILM K-9 Salesman Don WILLIAM SADLER

“K-9” Screencaps & Media

There’s a story the great actor Harrison Ford tells of one of his first films called Dead Heat On a Merry-Go-Round from 1966, where he played the part of a bellboy. In his all but one minute of screen time he gave us a performance that rattled a studio executive so much, he had to vent his spleen on the actor. Harrison recounts it below:

“He called me into his office and said, ‘I want to tell you a story, kid.’ Kid, he always called me kid. He was about 15 minutes older that I was,” Ford began. “He said, ‘First time Tony Curtis was ever in a movie … he delivered a bag of groceries, a bag of groceries, kid. And you took one look at that guy, and you knew that was a movie star.'”

Ford fired back: “Well I thought that was supposed to be a delivery boy!”

Ford was fired, he said.

SOURCE: THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

The reason I recount this story is because like Harrison Ford, Bill Sadler has that everyman ability to play exactly what he’s been hired to play. In this case in this film Bill plays a car salesman named Don who tries to sell to film star Jim Belushi. Instead of playing something bigger Bill plays a car salesman. His ability to become whatever he’s asked is so fluid. Bill is a car salesman and not trying to be anything else in that moment but that. It proves what an actor Bill is because later that year he became The Grim Reaper/Death in BILL & TED’S BOGUS JOURNEY, then a few years later a terrorist in Col. Stuart in DIE HARD 2. That’s Bill Sadler. Whatever is asked of him, he brings it.

“The Battle of Shaker Heights” – HD Screencaps & Media

Here finally is a new posting. Sorry for the lack of, but I’ve had some health issues taking precedent. One is a broken toe and the other is migraines. The only thing I can do when one of those hits is lie down and do stuff on my phone. I can’t sit at a desk and do any kind of work. I hope you understand. This time we have one of Bill’s films from 2003 called THE BATTLE OF SHAKER HEIGHTS where Bill plays the part of Abraham “Abe” Enswiler the father of Shia LaBeouf. The film ironically also stars Shiri Appleby who was also on ROSWELL as Liz Parker with Bill as Sheriff Jim Valenti. I have both screencaps and Bill’s bits. Enjoy.
